More Great Golf Courses in the Orlando Area
Sometime back I wrote an article about golf courses in and around Orlando, Florida. Orlando is truly a golfer’s paradise and it was not possible for me to do justice to the subject in one short article, so here are some more great golf courses that you should consider visiting when you take your next vacation in Central Florida.
I’ll start off with a golf course that was voted the number one public course in Orlando Magazine. It is the Metro West Golf Club located two miles from Universal Orlando resort. The course was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. and is beautifully landscaped with native trees and dotted with spring-fed lakes. The course has won many awards and includes a variety of amenities such as: complimentary shuttle service to selected hotels, a refreshment cart, complimentary valet parking and bag drop, Parview GPS on the golf carts, a Westerly’s Restaurant and more. To schedule a Tee Time call their golf shop at 407-299-1099.
Another beautiful public golf course worthy of your attention is Hunter’s Creek. This course features spacious fairways surrounded by tall pine trees and is set among 13 lakes. Hunter’s Creek is located less than 20 minutes away from the Orlando International Airport and the Disney resorts. The course has five sets of tees ranging from 5,225 to a challenging 7,268 yards. Hunter’s Creek has garnered awards and has been the home of several major tournaments including the US Open Qualifier in the years 1989-1994. For more information you can contact the course at: Hunter’s Creek Golf Club, 14401 Sports Club Way Orlando, FL 32837 Phone: 407.240.4653
If you would like a site that combines the flavor of Orlando with a taste of Scotland then the Eagle Creek Golf Club is worth a visit. It earned a 4.5 star rating from the Golf Digest’s places to play program, and when you consider its styling and amenities you can understand why. The course was designed by Ron Garl of the U.S. and Howard Swan of Europe and features 90 bunkers and bulkheads similar to those found on courses in Scotland and England. In addition, the course features a spectacular 14,000 square foot clubhouse with a fully stocked pro shop, a 120 seat restaurant and locker rooms and showers for men and women. For more information contact them at 10350 Emerson Lake Boulevard, Orlando, Florida 32832, Phone: 407-273-4653, Toll-free: 1-866-324-5342, E-mail: [email protected]
Finally, if you are searching for a course that combines scenic beauty with a challenge to your golf skills then the Lake Orlando Course may be what you are looking for. The scenic beauty on this Lloyd Clifton-designed course is provided by views of lakes, wildlife and towering Cypress trees, and the challenge comes in handling the tight fairways and water on every hole. The course is located at 4224 Club House Road Orlando and you can contact them at: Toll Free:1-866-465-3675, Tel: (407) 298-1230 Fax: (407) 298-9896 or by email: [email protected]
These are just a select few of the many courses in the greater Orlando area. So remember, when you are planning a vacation in Orlando for your family, be sure to take your golf clubs along and take some time to play on the stunning golf courses of this region
